Dear NYC-Parents in Action Community,
This year has been unusual, and difficult, for all of us. We have faced sudden lifestyle changes and unanticipated time with our families in quarantine. More recently, we have faced the tragic, racially charged and heartbreaking events in our city and country.
We would like to remind our community that although we have had to redesign our meeting format in the face of a pandemic, one thing that will never change is that NYC-Parents in Action invites all parents and all voices and perspectives to our meetings and events. We will continue, as always, to offer a forum for open and courageous conversations through our Parent Talks. Although there are no simple answers to the complex challenges we currently face, our motto at NYC-Parents in Action is “Be Involved, Be Informed, Be Connected,” and that includes everyone.
Because of the pandemic we have all had to pivot in our personal lives, and NYC-Parents in Action has had to do the same. Read more on our website about what we are currently doing differently: Zoom Parent Talks and our virtual variation on Teen Scene, QuaranTEEN Scene.
Looking forward, we will also continue to adapt to changing circumstances. When large gatherings are once again permitted, we will return to our regular schedule of Seminars with speakers, in-person Parent Talks, and, we hope, by next spring, our annual Benefit. If we remain in our current restricted environment we will seek ways to educate and interact with all of you through webinars and Zoom Parent Talks, hopefully more!
We wish you all good health, a relaxing summer, and quality time for connections. We will be back in the fall with whatever comes next.
Until we meet again,
Jennifer Anderson and Eby McKay
